According to classical astrological texts, earthquakes can correlate with eclipses under specific planetary configurations. On March 28, 2025 a major earthquake hit Myanmar and Thailand. The epicenter was in Mandalay region of Myanmar.
At the time of this tragedy, several notable astrological positions occurred. The Moon was approaching an eclipse, with Mercury and Venus both retrograde and in close proximity to Rahu. Mercury is key here, as it represents Prithvi (Earth) Tattva. These alignments are traditionally considered ominous and might have suggested a significant seismic event. However, global attention was focused on the situations in Palestine and Ukraine.
Analyzing these astrological components further, the retrograde Mercury in the eclipse zone suggests an affliction of the Prithvi tattva (earth element), with the retrograde motion potentially indicating a strong earthquake. The retrograde Venus in the eclipse zone points towards regions associated with Libra in traditional texts, such as Burma, Egypt, Japan, Argentina, and parts of India and China. Taurus-related areas like Ireland, Holland, and Iran also warrant consideration.
Pinpointing the precise location of a potential earthquake based on these factors presents a challenge for astrologers. Analyzing the annual charts of each potentially affected country is a complex and time-consuming undertaking. Unless the prediction pertains to one's own country, such as India in this case, these analyses are often prioritized less urgently.

Examining the chart for Mandalay at the time of the 28th March earthquake reveals Venus as the lord of 4th house sign Libra, representing the landmass of the country. This configuration further supports the heightened probability of seismic activity.
The occurrence of this earthquake in a Libra sign raises questions. Some ancient texts suggest a combination of air and Prithvi tattva is necessary for such events, perhaps explaining the Libra connection rather than Taurus. Further research is required to fully understand this dynamic. Future instances of this astrological combination will be examined with the intent to predict potential earthquakes within a refined list of 12-15 countries.
For me, mundane astrology is an area of strong interest. Global events provide valuable opportunities to study and refine predictive techniques. My recent analysis of the situation in Ukraine is available here.
